Hey Everyone! Today is the official release of StarCraft II: Heart of the Swarm! To commemorate, we’re going to be making a Zerg cake today with my friend Mr. Sark! Let’s get started
First bake 2 round cakes (we’re going to be stacking them)
Let’s begin icing our cake. I’m using homemade white icing but you can use store bought icing. Once you have applied some to the top, stack the other cake on top
Add some more icing to the top
I have some purple marshmallow fondant already prepared (there’s a link in the description on how to make your own) so the next step will be rolling out the fondant. This will serve as the basis for the surface creep
Transfer our rolled out fondant onto our cake
Get some purple food gel dye and begin painting the creep. You can add some vodka to the gel dye to make it more applicable. Be creative with applying the gel dye as the creep in Starcraft is uneven and bumpy. You can use your brush to create indentations and other abnormalities on the surface
Since we are making a Zerg Hatchery (base), we need to add some minerals to our cake! The minerals for our cake is going to be crush blue jolly ranchers. They look amazingly close to how they appear in the game
For the drones, we’ll be using some orange fondant. Get creative in making the drones. I added some indentations to create texture
Sark is helping me with some of the Hatchery details!

We’re all done! I loved the way the final piece came out! And the cake tasted delicious! Thank you Sark for being on the show!!
