Today I am beyond delighted to feature one of my best pals, Cybernova! She has one of the coolest, funniest, and most unique personalities out of ANYONE I’ve ever met, and today you all get to learn some new stuff about her, just like me! We’ve had some really wonderful times together collaborating, playing games, and of course, unboxing toys on the ToyBoxCollectibles channel! Although she no longer lives near me, I’m so thankful the internet can keep us together in some way! And now, I present to you…..Cybernova! <3
CUPQUAKE: Did you play a lot of video games as a child? Have you always been a geek at heart?
CYBERNOVA: Growing up, my family always had consoles around, so video games were a part of daily life. I’ve actually been gaming since the days where you had to blow dust out of the cartridge to get it to work! Being a geek is definitely in my blood. Fun fact: I missed my high school homecoming dance to play Halo on Xbox all night! :p
CQ: How exactly did you fall into the world of YouTube? What has this journey been like so far?!
C: My journey on YouTube started as a host and editor for PC gaming channels and companies. When the opportunity to join you and Mario on Toy Box Collectibles presented itself, it was the first time I truly felt like I was working for a purpose and with passion. Since then, I have poured my heart and soul into creating content on my own YouTube channel and am happy to do this for a living! I couldn’t have done it without your support! <3
CQ: Describe a day in the life of Cybernova.
C: Breakfast. It is important to always start the day with a healthy meal and a huge glass of ice water! Then, my least favorite part, getting ready. But once I am showered and fresh, I have abundant energy to record! I like to film first thing in the morning when my mind and body are recharged. After filming I take a break and respond to comments or play with my dog. Then the real work begins: editing and thumbnails! It typically takes between 1-4 hours to edit each video depending on the game and the length. But the best part of editing is having my dog sleep on my lap while I work! While the video renders, I take a lunch break, and then begin making thumbnails! I like to save the thumbnails for last because I truly enjoy making them, so it feels like a little reward at the end of a long work day! Once the video is rendered, I begin uploading it to YouTube, add the description and tags, and check back in with comments on social media and the channel. It is a lot of work, but at the end of the day, you feel so accomplished once the video is uploaded!
CQ: You’ve traveled all over the world for conventions, vacations, and even moved to Argentina for a bit! What is your favorite city of all time? Any place you can’t wait to visit someday?
CQ: What is ONE crazy random fact your fans would be surprised to know about you?
C: Believe it or not, I grew up singing jazz! I even went to a jazz choir summer camp!
CQ: Everyone who watches your channel knows how obsessed you are with astronomy! How has your passion for the science of outer space shaped you as an individual?
C: The more you learn about the vastness of the universe, the more it puts into perspective how precious our existence is. It has given me a deeper appreciation for the planet and respect for all its inhabitants. We are all on this rocky little world together, so be kind to people! Nobody is perfect, but try to be present and open-minded towards your fellow humans.
CQ: Tell us a bit about your new endeavor with the app game, Star Sk8r! How did this exciting opportunity come to fruition?
C: On July 15th, I will be added as a character in the app game Star Sk8r! You guys can unlock me by playing the game, and even have a shot at being in the game yourself! It has always been a dream of mine to be in a video game, so I am excited for you all to experience this with me! The best part is, when you wipe out, you will hear my voice crying out! I hope you all get a chance to check out the app!
CQ: What have been some of the biggest highlights and struggles of working for yourself? Do you have any advice for aspiring YouTubers?
C: Working for yourself has its advantages. For someone who loves to travel and has been in a long distance relationship, the ability to pick up and move to any corner of the world is priceless! However it does get lonely, and at times quite overwhelming, when you only have yourself taking care of the heavy workload. Finding people to collaborate with and share ideas with is key! If you are pursuing YouTube, remember to keep doing things that fulfill you creatively so you don’t get burnt out! Also be sure to maintain a good network of other creators to share your ups and downs with, and get advice from! You and Mario have definitely helped me out with so many questions over the past couple of years!
CQ: If you weren’t an online personality, what other dreams would you be chasing for a profession?
C: I would probably be working for an aerospace corporation or doing anything related to space outreach and education. Right now my focus is gaming, but inspiring people to learn more about the universe is my other true passion in life.
CQ: What’s the next adventure for Cybernova?
C: As some of you may or may not know, I am currently expecting my first child and just got engaged! I haven’t made a video announcing this huge life change yet, but you all can expect to see news soon on my YouTube channel about the baby on board! As for YouTube, I have some fun collaborations planned, so stay tuned! And thank you Cupquake for featuring me, and all of you guys for taking the time to read. <3
